Gujarat Pickers Industries (GPI) a partnership firm was established in 1962 by our visionary founder (Late) Mr. Galabhai Makwana and his son and current Chairman
Mr. Ratilal Makwana in Bhavnagar.
GPI initially engaged in the manufacturing of various types of pickers and other textile accessories and was supplying all over India.
In the year 1980, GPI was appointed as the distributor of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL), Vadodara, for their polymers (PP and PE). From 1980 to 2002, GPIL continued to be the distributor of IPCL.
In 1992, GPI was appointed as the distributor of GE Plastics India Limited (A Subsidiary of General Electric USA) for their engineering plastics (Noryl, Polycarbonate (PC), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Nylon etc and continued to be the distributor till 2002.
In the year 1994, GPI initiated the business of shipbreaking at Alang, Bhavnagar and continued till 2002.
Eventually, the company grew leaps and bounds to become the flagship company, Gujarat Pickers Industries Limited (GPIL), Ahmedabad that it is today. GPI was converted into a limited company in 2001.
GPIL also started its own import of various polymers, such as ABS, Nylon, LDPE, Metallocene, Titanium Dioxide, EVA, etc from Dubai, China, USA, and Europe to cater Indian market.
During the year 2003, GPIL was appointed as the distributor of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for their chemicals Sulphur, Paraffin Wax, Benzene, Toulene, Hexene, MTO, Aromax, etc. At Ankleshwar for Gujarat State.
In the year 2005, GPIL also exported Sugar and Sugar Machinery equipments to various countries.
In the year 2010, GPIL was appointed as the distributor of Indian Oil Corporation Limited for their polymers (PE and PP).
In the year 2014, GPIL was appointed as the agent of Windsor Machine Limited for their machinery for the Gujarat region.
In the year 2021 GPIL, was appointed as the distributor of Ideal Matrix (100% Owned Subsidiary of ASN Technologies Pte. Ltd. Singapore) for Polymer Additives at Ahmedabad for India.
Experience
During last 59 years, GPIL has gained enough experience with respect to marketing and servicing of polymers and petrochemicals products. In addition to the founder’s visionary guidance, all other directors of the company also equally share qualified success in this field. GPIL has recruited a team of professionals with experience and knowledge in their field.
